CHAIRMAN'S MESSAGE

Last year at this time, not one  of us could have forseen the tragic events of

Sept. 11 -- the attack that forever changed our nation.  While the great majority

of us have gone on about our lives, and a sense of normalcy returns, there

remains much to be done.

Let us pause on the first anniversary of that horrific day to honor and

remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.  Let us also give

pause to thank all those who worked so diligently afterward to protect

and defend our nation -- our servicemen and women, the police,

firefighters, and others dedicated to preserving the national good.

We remain indebted to and thank God for the work -- then and now --

of our great leaders like mayor Guiliani, Gov. Pataki, and

President Bush.  Let our prayers be with our nations leaders in the

struggle ahead.

It's during times like these I am especially proud to say I am an American --

ans a Republican.  I am particularly proud of the efforts made locally last

year by your Republican Party.

If ever there was a "sweep" of the November elections, last year was it.

Not a supervisors seat was lost, and one was gained.  The part now

holds 13 of 16 seats on the county board.  Our law enforcement team of

District Attorney Jim Sacket and Sheriff John Bates was also returned

to office by voters.

This year we have the opportunity to elect Gov. Pataki to a historic

third term; to elect John Faso to the state comptroller's post(although

we'll miss him as our assemblyman) and to re-elect Sen. Jim Seward.

I know these candidates can count on you for your support.

Perhaps one of the most important races ahead is that for the new

Assembly District.  For the first time in manyyears, we have the opportunity

to elect one of our own, Bill Cherry, who has an impressive record as

a town board member, supervisor, and treasurer.  I kow you'll support

Bill Cherry on Primary Day, Sept. 14, and in the general election

 in November.

It is your efforts that make therepublican party strong not only locally,

but on the state and national levels as well.  Let's continue to make

our influence felt.

Warmest personal regards.

Lewis L. Wilson
